BEYOND THE MIC

Nakita Shontel

Education

Originally from Durham, NC, I graduated from Northern High School in 2003. I later moved to Charlotte to attend Johnson C. Smith University, where I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Social Work. My passion for helping others led me to continue my education at the Apex School of Theology, where I obtained a Master’s in Christian Counseling.

Professional Life

Currently, I work in the IT industry and am pursuing my Scrum Master certification to further my professional growth and leadership skills.

Personal Life

Outside of work, I love shopping, reading, traveling, and creating joyful moments with my friends and boyfriend. I’m also a proud dog mom to Bella, a Shorkie I rescued in 2017. Losing my dad in 2014 was a life-changing moment that inspired me to push harder every day to make him proud.

My Passion

I’m deeply committed to sharing knowledge and giving thoughtful advice to help others gain clarity and focus in their lives. Being a safe space for those who need support—whether it’s a listening ear or a shoulder to lean on—is a role I value deeply. My purpose is to uplift and empower others to achieve their best.
